"Ornament" is Dan Kassel's fourth solo album and the first since 2016. All sounds on the album were produced by Kassel using cello, tingsha bells, udu drum, wooden spoons, and djembe. The album opens with "Languidity," a soothing yet groovy piece that builds slowly with warm, catchy chords. "Mystic" evokes a sense of mystery and wonder with its deep, rich string tones. "Higher" takes a more rhythmic approach with its catchy groove and tapping percussion. Closing the album, "Thrive" carries a brooding intensity with its thumping, grounded groove.
