As a teacher, Dan strives to provide the foundation of classical technique that is imperative to master before exploring new styles. With an emphasis on scales and finger exercises for beginners and improvisational techniques for more advanced students, Dan has taught privately and in group settings through schools and independently for the past 4 years. Some highlights of his teaching include an assembly for 600 students at the George School in Newtown, PA, with a masterclass for cellists afterwards, and a creative strings workshop for high schoolers at Hopewell Creative Arts Studio in Hopewell, NJ.
Lessons can be taught in Dan’s home studio or yours. $70 for 1 hour, $35 for a half hour.
"Dan has been my son's cello teacher and I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking out an instructor. I have a background in music and years of private teaching experience, so I bring another layer of appreciation for what Dan provides as an instructor. Dan is patient with and truly inspirational for young students. My son leaves his lessons encouraged, excited, and most importantly - motivated to go home and practice! As a parent and musician, seeing my child consistently self-motivate for home practice is probably the biggest benefit I've witnessed from regular lessons with Dan. I also appreciate that Dan is flexible with material and lesson content so that students are able to more deeply explore specific songs/genres that interest them. This is heavily supported with specific technical exercises and suggestions for practice. This combination is a winner for providing both knowledge and creative encouragement. A highly recommended teacher!" -Sarah T.
